Blanchard City Council Chambers
The project documented a historic church and produced plans for converting it to a new home for city council meetings.
Blanchard, Oklahoma | Fall 2013
Working with representatives from the City of Blanchard, the Graduate Design Studio I (first year studio for students in the 3-year Master of Architecture program) documented the 1930 First Methodist Church. Inspired by a Christopher Wren-designed church in Boston and located a block north of the key downtown intersection, this building was converted to the public library in 1993. Since 2010, the building has remained empty. The proposal is to turn this into the new City Council Chambers and support spaces. The project documented the building with as-built drawings, photographs, mechanical system analyses, and ADA issues as well as changes made through the years and due to changing uses.
